Cupro is a hybrid fiber made from a waste product from cotton production. It thus has a natural basis, which is then chemically finished. Due to the smooth surface and a round fiber cross-section, Cupro has a very soft and flowing feel that is reminiscent of silk – only on a plant-chemical basis instead of animal. The final product is characterized by the following properties:
- Cupro has a smooth and cool surface, making it very comfortable to wear.
- It is a light, flowy, silk-like fabric.
- Compared to conventional silk, cupro has a high tear resistance.
On our website you will always find the Cupro fabric in connection with Bemberg™, i.e. always as Cupro Bemberg™. This is because there is only one company in the world that makes Cupro: the Japanese company Asahi Kasei. Cupro is marketed under the Bemberg name by the world’s leading and only manufacturer from Japan. According to Asahi Kasei, he has developed a process that takes into account the needs of the environment in the production process. The active ingredients are almost completely recovered thanks to closed water circuits. The “Bemberg silk” is Oeko-Tex certified and biodegradable.
